Enhancing Provincial and Local Chambers of Commerce Capacities in Trade and Investment Facilitation along East-West Economic Corridor

Under the project titled “Enhancing Provincial and Local Chambers of Commerce Capacities in Trade and Investment Facilitation along East-West Economic Corridor (EWEC)”, the Mekong Institute (MI) with support from the Japan – ASEAN Integration Fund  (JAIF) is implementing a series of capacity building programs and business networking activities in 11 provinces along EWEC  namely Danang, Hue and Quang Tri provinces in Vietnam, Savannakhet in Lao PDR, Mukdahan, Kalasin, Khon Kaen, Phitsanulok and Tak provinces in Thailand, Mon and Kayin States in Myanmar.

The aim of the project is to enhance institutional and human resources capacities of the Provincial and Local Chamber of Commerce and Industries (CCIs), Federation of Thai Industries (FTIs) and Business Associations (BAs) as well as the respective Government agencies. The project is of two years duration (2011- 2012) with the following activities: 1) Business Research and EWEC Business Database Development, 2) Training on “Trade Event Promotion” and field events, 3) Structured Leaning Visit (SLV), and 4) Seminar and Policy Dialogue.
